A series of workshops in north east Victoria this month will explore the future of grape growing and winemaking in a changing climate.

The Vineyards of the Future workshop series will be hosted by North East Wine Zone. This event is supported by North East Catchment Management Authority, AgBiz Assist and Agriculture Victoria with funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.

Each of the workshops will include facilitated sessions with viticulturist and valuer Ben Rose, and Director of the Australian Resilience Centre, Paul Ryan.

Professor Snow Barlow will interpret climate science information for the North East Wine Zone.

Mr Rose will discuss vineyards of the future and critical planning considerations to maintain viability and profitability.

Mr Ryan will explore risk and resilience and the role of climate and weather events that impact vineyard businesses.

A fourth workshop is planned for Rutherglen and details are still to be confirmed.
